Drift wood stump on the Florida Gulf Coast

This old stump is typical of the drift wood you see on the undeveloped Gulf Coast of Florida. Perhaps it washed up? Perhaps it just grew where it was enveloped by the sea.

Tree on the Gulf of Mexico at St. Marks NWR

As I go through some old photo directories to see what treasures they hold, I'm reviving this blog.  We found this quiet place back in April of 2010.  Sometimes all you need is a shady tree right down by the Gulf of Mexico.  We found this one at St. Mark's NWR just south of Tallahassee, Florida. If you are looking for an undeveloped spot in Florida, this National Wildlife Refuge fits the bill perfectly.
