Hawk on a Lone Cypress Tree

Of course, you don't have to go far in North Florida to find interesting critters.  This hawk visited our Tallahassee apartment complex regularly.  Here he is perched in the center of the pond on a lone cypress tree.

This hawk actually does have quite the distinguished profile.  He should run for office . . . .

Tree on the Gulf of Mexico at St. Marks NWR

As I go through some old photo directories to see what treasures they hold, I'm reviving this blog.  We found this quiet place back in April of 2010.  Sometimes all you need is a shady tree right down by the Gulf of Mexico.  We found this one at St. Mark's NWR just south of Tallahassee, Florida. If you are looking for an undeveloped spot in Florida, this National Wildlife Refuge fits the bill perfectly.
